I don't think I've ever really understood the word meek. Being meek is not being weak. When we look at scriptures and see Moses, David, and even Jesus thriving in meekness, being weak is certainly not in our thoughts.
Meekness is teachability. Really, it's another form of humility.
"It is the readiness to be shown, which includes the readiness to lay down my fixed notions, my objections and "what-ifs" or "but what abouts," my certainties about rightness of what I have always done or thought or said. It's a child's glad "Show me! Is this the way? Please help me." We wont make it into the kingdom without that childlikeness, that simple willingness to be taught and corrected and helped." E. Elliot from Keep a Quiet Heart.
Oh, how I could use meekness in my life...
James 1:21
Isaiah 29:19
Matthew 11:29
Psalm 25:9
